Yes We’re Going To A Party Party
Ringo Starr is 70! Yesterday was a big day for him, and at 12 noon in New York City he led a public celebration to spread peace and love. Look closely and you’ll spot Olivia Harrison, George’s wife.
Ringo and his All Star Band played last night at Radio City Music Hall. The encore was With A Little Help From My Friends and he was joined on stage by Yoko Ono, Joe Walsh, Steve Van Zant, Jeff Lynne, Nils Lofgren, Max Weinberg, Gary Brooker, Peter Asher, Dave Stewart, Ringo’s son Zak and others. That was Fab, but even better was the last song, Birthday, from the white album, with Ringo’s friend Paul McCartney singing. It chokes me up to see Ringo and Paul hugging after the song. When you think about what those two have been through together….
And one more piece of Ringo news. This week PBS will start the second season of Live From The Artists Den with a tribute to Ringo, with a little help from Ben Harper and Relentless 7 and Joan Osbourne. Ben and Ringo have become good buddies this past year, and Ben has some interesting things to say about Ringo.
