y1 385 YMCAymca logo with red YMCAFirst it was the Young Men’s Christian Association. Then it was shortened to the YMCA. Now it’s just the “Y”. No place to go from here. But what was the Village People‘s response to this change?
Dismayed. They go on to say, “Some things remain iconic and while we admire the organization for the work they do, we still can’t help but wonder Y.” Their recording of YMCA has sold over 15 million copies around the world. They will continue to sing YMCA (yeah, they are still working). So next wedding reception, if you’re exhausted after doing the Rock Lobster, just request the short version….”Y”.

When I was a kid I thought the construction worker was the hottest – now that I’m older and wiser, it’s very clear the hottest is the cop, followed by the guy with the feathers…. ;)

I have always wondered about the YMCA song. Got to love the Village People. I love this blog and the personal twist you added in at the end. It is always true that girls always seem to have the hots for at least one of the guys in a boy band. I am also doing a blog about the YMCA and I am going to show people your blog because this is very funny and informs you about the song. Great blog!
