132 Giving Sanity A Chance: The Rally To Restore Sanity

Jon Stewart

[photogallerylink id=43683 align=left]Jon Stewart is having quite a week. Not every comedy show host gets a half hour of the sitting president’s time. President Barack Obama was the lone guest Wednesday…first time The Daily Show has focused on one interview. This weekend Stewart is hosting his Rally To Restore Sanity along with Steven Colbert’s March to Keep Fear Alive in Washington DC. And to top off this eventful week, Stewart was voted the most influential man of 2010.

It was a poll conducted by askmen.com. Also making the top five list is Bill Gates of Microsoft, Facebook founder Mark Zukerberg, Steve Jobs of Apple, and Kanye West. Others on the list…President Obama at 21, Conan O’Brien at 12, and George Clooney at 18. Remember the Jet Blue flight attendant who went ballistic? He came in #49. OK. And I guess I’m not watching enough TV because the Old Spice guy came in at #30. Also of interest, Win Butler of [lastfm]Arcade Fire[/lastfm] was number 44, David Letterman 39, and Colbert 11. I wondered who the most influential women were and tried http://www.askwomen.com and got “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”. Hmm.

But back to the march in Washington…plans have been top secret, but the buzz is that live music will be provided by [lastfm]The Roots[/lastfm], [lastfm]Sheryl Crow[/lastfm] and Chicago’s own [lastfm]Mavis Staples[/lastfm] with [lastfm]Jeff Tweedy[/lastfm]. I would vote for them in a heartbeat.

are you REALLY going to promote this crap?
Leave the left-wing politicking out of XRT or move to BEZ.

    1. Pilgrim for Progress says:

Stewart and Colbert are to of the best sources of objectivity when covering the circus that has become American Politics. They are voices of reason, skewerking liberals and conservatives alike. In fact, when Stewart appeared on crossfire, he was the only intelligent part of the conversation, asking the progressive and conservative candidate why they were destroying the American political and civil process. Vote Stewart & Colbert in 2012. and by the way, NObama and dave, President Obama is still trying correct the damage done by the Bush administration. Sorry for the inconvenient truth, but there it is.

  2. A. Zamudio says:

Comedy Central and CSPAN1 are carrying the event 11am – 2pm CST. Visit the Obama rally after the show!

  3. dave says:

  4. maple trails says:

It was very moving and entertaining rally.Very little to do with politics.Kinda reminded me of the 70s when people knew how to get along for the better of our country.
