This past year we witnessed a ton of incredible live appearances right here in the XRT Studio. From just last week with [lastfm]Elvis Costello[/lastfm], to [lastfm]Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes[/lastfm] the weekend of Lollapalooza, and [lastfm]Ryan Bingham[/lastfm] all the way back in March. 2010 was full of intimate performances you can only find here at XRT.

  • #20 JAMES MURPHY OF LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: Live Interview at SmartBar
    Marty Lennartz had a chance to interview James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem right before his sold-out XRT Show at Metro in May

    Justin Currie stopped by XRT in June to chat with Lin Brehmer and perform “A Man With Nothing To Do” on the XRT Morning Show

  • #18 THE WALKMEN: Live In-Studio Lollapalooza Weekend
    The Walkmen took a break from the crowds at Lollapalooza to join us at the XRT Studio for a live performance of “Blue As Your Blood”

    Scott Hutchinson came in November to talk to Marty Lennartz and to perform some songs from his album The Winter Of Mixed Drinks

  • #16 DAWES: Live In-Studio Lollapalooza Weekend
    Dawes came over to XRT from Grant Park before they performed at Lollapalooza to play a few songs, including “When My Time Comes”

    Widespread Panic’s frontman, John Bell, talked with Frank E. Lee in July and played a song for us before their concert at The Chicago Theatre

  • #14 DR. DOG: Live In-Studio
    In May, Dr. Dog performed “Jackie Wants A Black Eye” and chatted with Frank E. Lee in the afternoon before their XRT show at Metro

  • #13 ONE ESKIMO: Live In-Studio
    One eskimO came by in July to perform “Kandi” and talk to Frank E. Lee before their XRT Chill Out After Work Showlater that day

  • #12 SHAWN MULLINS: Live In-Studio
    Shawn Mullins was here in the XRT Studio in October for an interview with Frank E. Lee and also performed a few XRT favorites, including “Light You Up”

  • #11 ANDERS OSBORNE: Live In-Studio
    Frank E. Lee interviewed Anders Osborne (who moved to Louisiana from his native Sweden) in September. Anders also performed “On The Road To Charlie Parker” and “Got Your Heart”

  • #10 MODERN ENGLISH: Live In-Studio
    Modern English were here in July to perform “It’s OK” from their new album Soundtrack

  • #9 THE BODEANS: Live In-Studio
    The BoDeans came to the XRT Studio in April to perform “Stay” from their new album Mr. Sad Clown and also played “City Lights” and “Good Things”

  • #8 OLD 97’s: Live In-Studio
    Rhett Miller and Murray Hammond of the Old 97’s were at XRT in July to talk with Frank E. Lee about Champaign, IL, Texas, and hearing themselves on the radio for the first time

  • #7 RYAN BINGHAM: Live In-Studio
    Ryan Bingham was here back in March to play his Grammy Award-winning song “The Weary Kind”

  • #6 BRANDON FLOWERS: Live In-Studio at KROQ
    Brandon Flowers of the Killers stopped by our sister station KROQ in L.A. to perform two songs from his solo album Flaming, “Crossfire” and “Hard Enough”

    JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys came to XRT in September to talk to Frank E. Lee and perform a few songs, including “If You Let Me”

  • #4 EDWARD SHARPE: Live In-Studio Lollapalooza Weekend
    Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes were at XRT on the weekend of Lollapalooza to perform a few songs and borrow a gong from our office for their XRT Bud Light Lollapalooza Aftershow at Lincoln Hall late that night

  • #3 CIVIL TWILIGHT: Live In-Studio
    Terri Hemmert got a chance to chat with Civil Twilight in June, and listen to them perform “Letters From the Sky”

  • #2 MUMFORD AND SONS: Live In-Studio
    Back in May, Mumford and Sons were here for an interview with Terri Hemmert and to perform “The Cave” before they played a sold-out XRT Show at Lincoln Hall

  • #1 ELVIS COSTELLO: Live In-Studio
    Elvis Costello came to XRT right before he headed over to the Chicago Theatre for the XRT Bud Light Big Holiday Concert last week to talk to Marty Lennartz and perform “A Slow Drag With Josephine” and “Condemned Man”
