eddie uke Eddie Vedder Solo: Most Anticipated New Release On New Noise At Nine?

Mellow Eddie with his Ukulele

It looks like another great New Music Thursday on 93XRT and, therefore, we look forward to another pretty cool New Noise at Nine tonight. NN@9 is when we play the best of New Music Thursday for an hour beginning at 9:00PM.  One of the most anticipated new releases is the first, non-soundtrack album from longtime [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pearl Jam[/lastfm] leader, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eddie Vedder[/lastfm], Ukulele Songs, coming out this Tuesday.  Seriously? Seriously. Eddie is sometimes said to be a little too serious once in awhile.

Yes, the new and first full solo album by Eddie Vedder is made up of songs that are played on the ukulele. This is not an instrument you would usually associate with Rock, but, then again it’s not exactly rare. And this format gives Eddie a chance to spotlight his singing and songwriting. Most of the songs here have been written by Eddie and Eddie alone. Most of the songs are sung solo by Eddie, but he is joined on a couple by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Glen Hansard[/lastfm] and by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cat Power[/lastfm]. We’ll be sure to play a track in the first fifteen minutes of the show tonight.

There’s a couple other big, new releases coming on Tuesday. Right at the top of the show we’ll also play album previews by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Death Cab for Cutie[/lastfm].
