[pullquote quote=”I want you to think about a beautiful symphonic sound that came out of one man’s saxophone.” credit=”Bono”]As any public relations man will know, the image of a band is almost if not equally as important as the music they play. For [lastfm]Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band[/lastfm], the late [lastfm]Clarence Clemons[/lastfm], affectionately (and accurately) referred to as the “Big Man,” he brought both to the table. An imposing 6’5″ gentle giant with a warm smile will be remembered as the man who changed the identity of the brass section in rock, turning it from a piece of [lastfm]Phil Spector[/lastfm]’s legendary wall of sound into a bombastic focal point, a solo section that brought people to their knees as much as any guitar solo from Springsteen himself.

Iconic rockers U2, innovators of modern rock themselves, took time during a tour stop in Anaheim, California on Saturday to acknowledge Clemons and his achievements as a powerhouse sideman for The Boss.
