I always have to remind myself that [lastfm]Bon Iver[/lastfm] is not from a distant galaxy communicating to earthlings by way of ethereal musical vibrations. Bon Iver is the brainchild of Justin Vernon, who makes music in the musky country of Wisconsin. His new single “Holocene” comes with a bonus track that was first available as a Record Day release. It’s a cover of [lastfm]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm]’s “Come Talk To Me.” You’ll enjoy it.

Some of you may remember Peter opening the Secret World Tour emerging from a British phone booth singing “Come Talk To Me.” Among the greatest concert opens I have ever witnessed. Kids, you want to start a concert that will people will remember. Do it like this.

Gabriel is releasing a new album called New Blood on October 11th.

This is part of Gabriel’s reciprocal cover project “Scratch My Back” on which he covers songs from a variety of artists in exchange for their cover of one of his songs, to be compiled in a response album titled “And I’ll Scratch Yours” or something like that. Isn’t it?
