Sneak Preview: Nada Surf – The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy

January 24.
If you’re somewhere between the ages of 28 and, oh, say, 39, your first taste of the band Nada Surf was probably back in 1996 with their MTV hit, “Popular.” I didn’t think much of the song or the band and just went along living my life for the next 6 years… In 2002 they came out with an amazing album (Let Go) and I thought to myself, “Wait, Nada Surf? That Nada Surf? Why would my music snob buddy recommend an album from this band?” Turns out their 1998 album, The Proximity Effect, was pretty good too but it had flown totally under my radar. 1998 was still kinda, sorta pre-internet, so that’s my excuse for that one. Anyway, I’ve had a soft spot for the band since ’02 and their next album will be released one week from today (January 24). The album is called, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy, and if you’d like a taste, see below. You can also check ‘em out at Metro on April 2.
