Keith, Eric, Buddy And More In Tribute To Hubert Sumlin In NYC

When Chicago Blues legend Hubert Sumlin passed away in December of last year there was a tremendous outpouring of love for the sweet, humble man who had been one of the most influential guitar players in the history of the music. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards agreed to pay for all of Hubert’s funeral expenses, and on the day his body was laid to rest there was a wonderful benefit jam at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn. Now, having had some time to plan, a much more ambitious event is set for New York City later this month.

Details are still being finalized and more performers are likely to be added to this list, but so far it looks like everybody asked to perform that can make the gig has said, “yes.” Performers at this date include Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Buddy Guy, Shemekia Copeland, Ivan Neville, James Cotton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, David Johansen, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Kim Wilson, Gary Clark, Jr., Doyle Bramhall II and Keb’ Mo’.
The event will take place at The Apollo Theater in New York City on February 24, 2012.
Tickets are priced from $150 to $1,000 each.

That New York ticket price is a *bit* higher than Fitzgeralds and we had Billy Branch and Mud Morganfield. And Bob Margolin. Just sayin’.
