[pullquote quote=”It’s become a perfect combination of my fantastical robot-world vision…it’s hokey and wonderful and poignant and powerful.” credit=”Wayne Coyne”]Long live The Flaming Lips! These guys are real friends of this radio station and they give us so much to talk about. Music released in gummy skulls, weird toys, their willingness to work with other artists, and appearances at Big XRT Shows.

This time it’s a full theatrical show, now nearing arrival, with a 2012 due date! Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots will premiere November or December at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego.

“It’ll be a big chunk of Flaming Lips music, probably about 30 songs,” Coyne told Billboard. “It’s a big deal.”

The theater company’s website promises a “dazzling, multi-media experience.” Yes, the plot focuses on a young Japanese artist named Yoshimi who must do battle in an evil robot world. Can’t wait!
