Health Care Rock [Playlist]

With the Supremes (not those Supremes!) deliberating the finer points of the Health Care Reform Act. we need some tunes in the background while the argumentsfly. Start with these and check your co-pay:

  1. IRM” by Charlotte Gainsbourg. Inspired by a magnetic resonance brain scan.
  2. Transfusion” by Nervous Norvus. “Pour the crimson in me, Jimson!”
  3. Sister Morphine” by the Rolling Stones. A rare example of prescription drug use by the Glimmer Twins.
  4. I Don’t Need No Doctor” by Ray Charles. For those who decide not to buy insurance.
  5. National Health” by the Kinks. These guys must be socialists. And I bet they’re not natural-born citizens.
  6. “Lady Doctor” by Graham Parker. “She cures the pain for free.”  That’s one way to reduce costs.
  7. Doctor Robert” by the Beatles. Supposedly John Lennon practicing without a license.
  8. Brain Salad Surgery” by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. An operation often performed at home.
  9. Ambulance Blues” by Neil Young. Hum this one on the way to the ER.
  10. Frankenstein” by the Edgar Winter Group. Unorthodox? Without question. Genius?  Certainly.  Mad?  Perhaps. A great stitcher, nonetheless. And a pioneer in the development of the defibrillator.
