prius lead Prius Route to Rock, Vol. 3: Record Store Day, Cubs v. Reds, Sleepy SunThe third installment of the Prius Route to Rock is here, and what do you have to choose from this weekend?  Saturday is one of the most important days of the year for music lovers, the Cubs have a chilly series coming up at Wrigley, and if you need some live music, Subterranean is where you might want to be on Saturday night.

Record Store Day @ Everywhere, Saturday, 4/21

Like I was saying, one of the most important days of the year for music lovers.  Record stores aren’t quite as prevalent as they once were, but the ones that are still alive and kicking are the ones doing it right.  There’s a party happening at Record Breakers which you’ll find at Reggies @ 2109 S. State and Terri Hemmert will be a guest clerk at Laurie’s Planet of Sound in Lincoln Square @ 4639 N. Lincoln.  There are also a ton of other stores in the city and burbs with all kinds of exclusive vinyl releases from Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Aretha Franklin, Animal Collective, Afrika Bambaataa…  And that’s just getting started with the A’s.  Not every store will have every Record Store Day exclusive, so call ahead and ask ’em.  They have actual people working there that can answer the questions, most likely.  All the info you need is here.

Cubs v. Reds @ Wrigley Field, Friday-Sunday, April 20-22.

It should be chilly this weekend at Wrigley, but hey, highs in the upper 40s on Saturday and Sunday ain’t that bad compared to some of the stuff we’ve dealt with in Aprils past.  Also, you can taunt Dusty Baker while he overworks his bullpen and runs them into the ground.

Sleepy Sun @ Subterranean, Saturday, April 21

A band from my neck of the woods (San Francisco, CA) playing in my current neighborhood (Wicker Park).  I think I was meant to go to this show.  If you need a little psych-rock in one of the busiest spots on a weekend evening, this is your show.  Tix here.
