Perfect timing. This Friday we gear up to celebrate the sonic legacy of U2 as this week’s Friday Feature. Last night in New York City’s Living Room, fans came to see Glen Hansard, (Swell Season, The Frames) who will be in Chicago for an XRT Show at the Vic on June 26th just after his solo album Rhythm and Repose is released June 19th.

Fans came for a great show, but did not expect a performance from one of the biggest rock frontmen of all time. Before the end of the evening, Hansard invited fellow irishman, Bono up on stage for the final song of the night.

Together, they sang an acoustic version of the Irish Ballad, “The Auld Triangle.” Previously covered by U2, it is now quite popular back in the Emerald Isle. This was something that has never been seen before, one of the world’s biggest names on one of New York City’s smallest stage surprising 100 guests.

One of my favourite performances of this song by some of the original masters.
