Prius Route to Rock, Vol. 8: Bike The Drive, Apparat, Red Hot Chili Peppers

prius lead Prius Route to Rock, Vol. 8: Bike The Drive, Apparat, Red Hot Chili PeppersAnother weekend on the horizon, another batch of shows and events handpicked by yours truly.  The brand new, nautical blue 2012 Prius will definitely be transporting me to Allstate Arena on Monday evening for the RHCP show, but arena rock isn’t the only thing happening this weekend…

MB Financial Bank Bike The Drive, Lakeshore Drive, Chicago, Sunday, May 27

Bike The Drive is a major fundraiser for the Active Transportation Alliance.  As a card-carrying member of Active Trans, I know firsthand how dedicated they are to improving Chicago for bikers, walkers, and users of mass transit.  So not only does the event raise some serious dough for a seriously awesome organization, it’s also the only time of the year where Lakeshore Drive is car-free and open to bikes only.  One of the most scenic roads in the entire country full of my bicycling brethren…  It’s pretty awesome.  Sign up here.

Apparat @ Lincoln Hall, Monday, May 28

What, Monday is part of the weekend?  This weekend it is, and that includes a gig from German artist Apparat at Lincoln Hall.  Earlier in his career you could’ve safely tagged him as an electronic artist, but his newest album is more than a collection of beats.  As Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) put it recently, he’s more interested in “designing sounds than beats,” which is probably why you often see the letters “IDM” (intelligent dance music) near his name.  Sample his work below and find tickets here.

Red Hot Chili Peppers @ Allstate Arena, Monday, May 28

You don’t need a paragraph from me on this band.  You know the deal.  Tickets here.
