January doldrums be gone, the Postal Service is back! That’s what their website led us to believe when they left a potential omen as to what might be to come in 2013 with the release of a graphic titled “The Postal Service—2013.”

After their celebrated 2003 album Give Up, there was much expected from L.A. duo of Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello from Dntel, but efforts at a second album didn’t pan out. Whether the graphic was to announce their 2013 tour or to veil the release of a second album, the Postal Service has already scheduled appearances to reunite for the tenth anniversary of their premier album, including stops at L.A.’s Coachella and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound.

Album or no album, at least there’s something to look forward to during these Chicago winter months.
