By Richard Milne

The duo of Jeremy “JT Nero” Lindsay and Allison Russell comprise the core of Birds of Chicago. Jeremy is still front fella for JT and the Clouds (along with his work as JT Nero) and Allison is half of Po’ Girl, the Canadian based group she leads with Awna Teixeira. Members of both those bands provide backing instrumentation on Birds’ eponymous 2012 release. Lindsay and Russell started sharing stages a number of years ago when Jeremy was going out solo. Nightly onstage collaborations revealed an affinity and chemistry that carried offstage as well. To my ears, they’re part of that rare realm of vocalists that were born to sing together. They both are fine songwriters, as well. Put it all together and you’ve got a knockout collection of songs and performances. Meet Jeremy Lindsay and Allison Russell, aka Birds of Chicago, on this week’s Local Anesthetic, Sunday night at 7:30 here on XRT.
