The Band starts playing at 8, don’t be late for this week’s XRT Sunday Night Concert, recorded during their reunion tour in 1983 at the University of Chicago. (Their song “Enrico Fermi’s Blues” was inspired by this show.) Here’s some tunes for a warm up:

Arkansas traveler Levon Helm sings this classic tale of the Civil War.

Richard Manuel was one of the greatest singers in rock and here’s his powerful take on Bob Dylan’s tale of ungrateful children.

Rick Danko on the mike for this musical version of the New Testament parable.

A great Marvin Gaye cover from a New Years show in New York City that featured a guest appearance by Bob Dylan.

It’s never too early for a wonerful Christmas song!
