By Richard Milne

Two very down to earth and very talented fellas were my guests on last night’s Local Anesthetic. Textbook guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Dave Lysien and bassist Rick Uncapher dropped by to play tracks from the group’s All Messed Up (Torture Chamber Records) and give me a bit more background on why this is Textbook‘s most satisfying release to date. I didn’t think anybody was going to top Crow MosesHorse Heaven Hills for the poll position on the Anesthetic Best of 2014 list but this record is in the hunt. You guys know I’m a sucker for the under three minute pop tune and most of the 11 tracks on All Messed Up clock in about 2:30 (including guitar solos and the occasional guest vocal from Jeff Pezzati and Danny Vapid). Really, I’ve been a fan of Lysien’s songwriting since his Not Rebecca days and the fact that he’s able to continue to craft beauties like these twenty years later is just one of the many topics we tackled on last night’s show. Give a listen at the link below. Gracias.
