These days, it seems that questioning whether or not an MC writes his own lyrics seems to be the biggest insult in the world of hip-hop. Just ask Meek Mill and Drake, who have been quarreling extensively about that very issue for days.
But simply calling someone a “f—ing idiot” is a timeless and always demeaning insult to throw.
So, it seemed that in a recent interview with The Guardian (via NME), Blur guitarist Graham Coxon wanted to cover all of his bases. Coxon was asked about ‘Ye, and responded, “He’s a f—ing idiot, isn’t he? Does he even make his own albums?”
Comparing modern music (and, seemingly, hip-hop)to McDonalds, he said, “All I hear is a loop starting, some bloke starts to sing or rap, and the loop finishes. There’s no shape to this stuff. And the lyrics just seem to be idiotic.”
West has yet to respond to, or recognize, Coxon’s comments.
