Leading the charge this week was the handsome devil pictured above. Miles Nielsen returns with another collection of exquisite songcraft on Heavy Metal. He’s got various gigs coming up in his native Rockford; check his site for more info. “Warble Daze” festival is going down over a couple days this weekend. The Hot Moms will be playing along with White Mystery and many others. Check this link for more. The Ivorys continue their streak of good singles with “Fine on Your Own”. They’ll be at Taste on July 8. Choo Choo spent the Chicago’s colder months recording and the result is Over Winter. Dig some “January Jonesin'” on last night’s show and the band itself at Quenchers on July 17. The long-awaited debut from Whitney (ex-Smith Westerns, et al) is a highlight of 2016 so far. Check out the title track to Light Upon the Lake. Kathy Greenholdt sounds stronger than ever on The Pilgrim. Check out “Now That You’re Gone” on last night’s Anesthetic. And, finally, some pretty accomplished pop-punk from the Top Shelf Lickers Heartbreak City rounded out the show with “Vinyl”. They’re back at the DRUNKEN DONUT (emphasis MINE) in Joliet this Saturday. Back with more new Chicago music this Sunday night at 7:30 on XRT. Thanks for listening.
