After 25 years, does Perry Farrell still have the same love for Lollapalooza? You bet he does. “It is like, the best music experience to me on the whole planet…the city of Chicago makes us look so damn good,” he tells Marty Lennartz. After touring around the world with both Lollapalooza and Jane’s Addiction, Perry attests, “We’ve got the best one here [in Chicago]”.

The trip down memory lane led us past the the twelve years Lolla has evolved in Chicago, to Perry’s first time performing in Chicago at the Metro, with Joe Shanahan serving him Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce, to Henry Rollins setting the stage at the very first Lollapalooza twenty five years ago.

“Henry Rollins is responsible for how artists approach the stage and the way they’re going to come at you musically in a live vibe. He’d wrap the microphone around his arm and palm like it was an extension of his brain. That’s how Lolla launched, with that kind of attitude.”
