Well, that was an eventful weekend, wasn’t it? On the heels of the 4-day smorgasbord of live music known as Lollapalooza, the Cubs decided to extend things a little with a come from behind extra innings affair against the Seattle Mariners. It was a hard-fought series with the Cubs taking 2 of 3 thanks to Joe Maddon’s unorthodox managing, Travis Wood’s fielding abilities and Jon Lester’s bunting. C’mon, what?! The M’s jumped out to a 6-nil lead behind King Felix’s arm until he lost the strike zone and started walking and plunking Cubs in. From there, Maddon got creative again, subbing in relievers and putting them in the outfield to preserve them for later batters, then getting starting pitchers up to relieve and *gasp* hit. Okay, bunt. Say what you will about Lester’s lack of pickoff move, he’s clearly got bunting down.
