A week has now passed since Lollapalooza first kicked off at Grant Park, giving us some time to reflect on the best performances, interviews, and more.
Let’s take a look at 5 things we learned at Lollapalooza 2016.
1.) LCD Soundsystem can be a life changing experience.
The set has been hailed as one of the finest of the weekend, but as our recap stated, “It had everything; a fantastic setlist, thousands of LCD fans together, and of course a vintage performance from James Murphy.”
2.) New or old, Radiohead still sounds fantastic.
Radiohead gave fans a mix of old time favorites and new songs from A Moon Shaped Pool at their headlining Lollapalooza set. See it for yourself and watch their entire performance here.
3.) Lollapalooza to remain a four-day festival.
This one we learned right on the spot, literally. The three Charlies of C3 stopped by our broadcast area and revealed that Lollapalooza 2017 will continue on as a four-day festival.
4.) The Red Hot Chili Peppers treat festival gigs as a warm up for their tour.
In an exclusive interview with XRT, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer spoke of how the band uses festival sets as a warm up for their stadium shows. Judging by their performance, we couldn’t tell.
5.) Chicago loves Lolla and Lolla loves Chicago.
Perry Farrell put it best in his interview with XRT, saying, “It is like, the best music experience to me on the whole planet…the city of Chicago makes us look so damn good.”
