By Richard Milne

Since Old Shoe‘s Paul Priest went to the trouble of telling me this too-long-to-tell-on-the-radio story behind his song “Lindsey Avenue” from his solo release The Acme Hotel (as heard on last night’s Local Anesthetic), here it is, verbatim. “Just was a walk I took somewhere outside of Champaign the morning after a gig. Was a beautiful day, peaceful, quiet, but stumbled upon a dying dove and a big black snake. The host at the home we were staying at (tho I set up a tent) said coyotes were aplenty (“prairie wolves bedding in the fields”) and I’m pretty sure I glimpsed one. All in all it’s the old beauty/peril contrast.” Got that? We also heard from the new releases by The Gold Web, Jake Mack Trio, Maxel Toft, Al Englemann, The Inbetween Days and Mutts (for the second week in a row!) Back with more new Chicago music on this Sunday night’s Local Anesthetic. Last night’s show is below. Thank you for listening.
