As someone who spends most of their time seeking out different ways to have different types and levels of fun (easy, medium, and hard, obviously), I am here to report that September is a fantastic month for fun.

Jenny Lewis plays the Chicago Theatre this Thursday, September 8th. She’s going to be celebrating the 10 year Anniversary of her debut album Rabbit Fur Coat, playing with The Watson Twins. She puts on a fantastic live show. You can still grab tickets here.

The Hideout is celebrating their 20th anniversary this Saturday, September 10th, with live music all day long. Not to be confused with their epic Block Parties which are currently on hiatus, this party will feature live music inside and on the front porch outside of the Hideout. The lineup is an excellent mix of local Hideout heroes:

12:00pm – Plastic Crimewave Vision Celestial Guitarkestra
12:00pm – Late Late Breakfast Pancake Brunch
1:00pm – The Girl Talk interviews Hideout Residencies!
2:00pm – “Mantina” (Nora O’Connor, Gerald Dowd, & Liam Davis)
3:00pm – White Mystery
4:00pm – The Amazing Mr. Ash
4:20pm – Gregorio Gomez reads “The City”
4:30pm – Kelly Hogan & Andy Hopkins
5:00pm – Mr. Rudy Day
5:45pm – Tim Samuelson; Official Historian for the City of Chicago
6:00pm – Jon Langford & Skull Orchard
7:30pm – JC Brooks Band
8:30pm – Chances Dances DJs
9:00pm – Eleventh Dream Day
10:00pm – Devil in a Woodpile
11:00pm – Lawrence Peters Outfit

The fun kicks off at noon, and wraps up late at night with Mobile Soul, an all-vinyl soul dance party and fundraiser orchestrated by the Chicago creative duo, NOBLESAVAGE.

In other fun news, Whitney has been added to Goose Island 312 Urban Block Party, making an already outstanding lineup with White Denim, Jr Jr, Beach Slang, and Dawes, that much better. The event takes place Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th at the Goose Island Brewery on Fulton Street. There is a $10 suggested donation at the door, and beer is only $3. Two words for that: Me. Yow.

There’s plenty more going on in September too. For a full list of XRT Shows, check out our Concert Calendar.

See you out there!
