Is it possible for a team that’s led the division for all but one day and is forty games over .500 to somehow back into the playoffs? Well, the Cubs couldn’t clinch in front of the home crowd at Wrigley, but the Cardinals couldn’t hold off the Giants in San Francisco, meaning the Cubs were now division champs for the first time since 2008. The regulars will have a day off today as the Cubs take the final two weeks of the season to prep for the postseason while still working towards home field throughout those playoffs. Len & Lin will continue as October turns red hot and the Cubs attempt to out-hit, out-pitch and out-run history.
