Well September sure has been fun. And now the Fall weather has officially arrived! Sweater weather! Boy am I a girl who loves the Fall. Before the temperatures dipped, the team at Goose Island made sure to slip their annual 312 Urban Block Party in, and what a party it was.

I got to interview Jr. Jr., but instead of a traditional interview we played “The Newlywed Game.” Daniel and Josh are in fact not newly wedded, but they have been making music together for a long time. So I thought we’d test their knowledge of each other. I won’t give it all away, but even they were surprised by the results. Check out the video here:

In case you were living under a rock, they used to go by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. but shortened their name with the new album.

In case you really are living under a rock, I sincerely apologize for that condescending statement about your living conditions.

We’ve been playing “Gone” all summer at XRT, but I really like this song from the new album:

“In My Mind (Summertime)” – Jr. Jr.

We also took a few lucky listeners on a Goose Island Brewery Tour with the guys from local band Whitney.

Home brewers in the making.

Home brewers in the making.

No matter where we go, even a warehouse full of barrels.

Their XRT Show for Saturday, December 3rd at Thalia Hall has sold out, but hurry and grab tickets to the Sunday, Deceber 4th show while you still can!

“No Woman” – Whitney

In other news, the first two XRT / Bud Light Music Trivia Nights have been huge successes! Thank you to everyone who came out to Scoreboard’s in Oswego and Evviva in Lisle. Here are our fabulous winners from this past Tuesday night at Evviva:

There’s still time to join the fun too! Come out to Mike and Denise’s at 1760 N. Farnsworth Ave. in Aurora, next Thursday, October 6th from 7-9 pm. Registration starts at 6:30, or pre-register by emailing us at

This Thursday night we are screening the Wilco Documentary “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” at the Music Box Theatre as part of the XRT / Goose Island Music In Motion Film Series. The film documents the band while they were working on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and is shot by director Sam Jones, who also took the iconic photograph of Chicago’s Marina City that was used on the album’s cover. The doc also captures Wilco’s performance at XRT’s Free Fourth of July Concert at Taste of Chicago that year, with brief cameos by Lin Brehmer and Frank E. Lee. Show starts at 7:30, and you can grab tickets here.

Don’t forget, your last chance to buy an #XRTeal shirt in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance is this Sunday! Buy one while you still can, and support a great cause!

And I’m out like this cat who’s not feeling the pumpkins:
