House Speaker Paul Ryan plans a conference call this morning with House Republicans … and Politico reports Ryan is considering pulling his support, as have about three dozen GOP Senators and Congressmembers … Chicago public schools and teachers union negotiators say they’ll meet up to tonight’s midnight deadline for a strike … Chicago’s archbishop Blase Cupich will be elevated to Cardinal next month … Hurricane Matthew has limped out to sea, leaving behind at least 17 deaths in the US and dangerous flooding in the Carolinas … The Nobel Prize in Economics goes to Harvard and M-I-T economists whose contract theory addresses conflicts of interests in management incentives and public-private groups … The Bears lost in Indianapolis … the Cubs play what could be a decisive NLDS Game 3 in San Francisco tonight … It’ll be sunny and in the low-70s today.
