Donald Trump spent much of the weekend complaining that the media is backing Hillary Clinton, that Saturday Night Live is not funny now that it’s making fun of him, and that the election is being rigged against him. This increasingly common refrain is prompting argument from state elections officials, who say the election is not rigged … and even from Republican leaders including Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence. … This morning, Trump is tweeting again — that there IS large-scale voter fraud happening and calling GOP leaders naive for denying it. He offers no evidence to back this up …  The battle to reclaim Iraq’s second largest city from the Islamic State has begun … Wikileaks reports founder Julian Assange’s internet access has been cut by an unidentified state actor … Chicago police report officers shot and injured a robbery suspect on the West Side … and are investigating nearly 50 shootings over the weekend … Chicago aldermen begin hearings today on Mayor Emanuel’s budget proposal … The Cubs lost Game 2 to the Dodgers, so they head to LA tied at one game each … the Bears blew a lead and lost to the Jaguars … It’s July in October today — partly sunny, windy and warm with temperatures in the mid-80s.
