Concert Webcast: Tune-Yards Performs On The BlueCross BlueShield Performance Stage WATCH LIVE
By Richard Milne

Actually, not all five of the Five. Drummer (and album recording engineer) Alex Hall along with bassist Casey McDonough will stop by Local Anesthetic to talk about the many great songs on the band’s debut, It’s A World of Love and Hope. I chose Alex and Casey because their bandmates- Kelly Hogan, Scott Ligon and Nora O’Connor– have all been on Local Anesthetic at least twice apiece before. As incredibly talented as everybody in The Flat Five is, I wanted to get some fresh perspectives. Plus, Scott, Kelly and Nora are undoubtedly hip to my interviewing tricks; a couple of young pups like Alex and Casey will have that new-to-Anesthetic wide eyed wonder that’ll make prying answers out of them easy peasy. But, let’s talk about how fantastic this record is. All songs are by Chris Ligon (himself an Anesthetic guest back in 2011), Scott’s older brother. Chris is a songwriter of disarming ease and wonder. To hear his songs anew in the hands and vocal cords of these five folk is a thrill. No lie. It’s a World of Love and Hope has become my favorite listen of 2016. We’ll talk about why that is and play you plenty of tunes when Alex and Casey of The Flat Five saunter in to the XRT studios for Local Anesthetic, this Sunday night at 7:30. We look forward to your company.
