President-elect Trump is set today to meet with some of the country’s biggest tech leaders, including Tim Cook of Apple, Elon Musk of Tesla and Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook.
About 300 tech employees at companies including Twitter and Google have signed a pledge that they won’t help Trump if he follows through with his campaign pledge to register Muslim Americans. They write in an open letter that they stand in solidarity with Muslim Americans, immigrants, and people whose livelihoods are threatened by the incoming administration’s proposed data collection policies … Shelling has resumed in Aleppo to end a ceasefire and block thousands of civilians from evacuating Syria’s largest city. Russian leaders blame rebels for breaking the truce … Mayor Emanuel’s named top aide Anna Valencia, to take over as City Clerk for the state’s new comptroller Susana Mendoza, according to the Sun Times … Training is underway for a group of new Chicago police officers … The actor and composer Alan Thicke has died of a heart attack at the age of 69. He was best known as the dad on the show ‘Growing Pains.’ The Bulls lost to Tom Thibodeau’s Timberwolves … the Blackhawks won in New York … It’ll be blustery and cold today with wind chills down to 10-below zero … and they’re going down more overnight.
