Neil Young once sang that “it’s better to burn out than it is to fade away,” but are these really the only options? Isn’t it possible for a rock n’ roller to simply age gracefully?

Hey Lin, the older I get, the less I remember. Except songs. Why do certain songs get stuck in our heads, and why does it usually happen with songs we hate?
I was disappointed to hear that Elvis Costello is XRT’s headliner for their holiday concert.
Being Jewish I found Elvis Costello’s anti-Semitic refusal to perform in Israel, reason to discount and dismiss any previous connection I had to his music.
I am amazed that other careers have been stymied or ruined by “racial slurs”, yet he unequivocally stands against Israel and Jews but receives hype and attention to promote his new CD from WXRT.
When do principles apply?
My husband and I occasionally play “How old are they?” with regards to musical icons of the 60′s and 70′s. Last night the name of Crispin St. Peter came up, so after a quick Wikipedia, we discovered that he was DEAD. He died in June 2010! We were awstruck that media didn’t at least make mention of this due to the popularity of I’m the Pied Piper”. Do you think there is a growing trend of ignoring the death of musically insignificant pop stars?
