Monday – Friday: 4-8pm
Host: The Big Beat
So, it may not always sound like it, but I’ve been yakking into a mic between records for almost 20 years now, if you count my time at student-run KVHS in Concord, CA in the late ’90s… Yeah, I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay) and developed a love for radio at the age of 8 when I would fall asleep listening to San Francisco Giants games on KNBR. It then became a bit of a habit of mine, falling asleep with the radio on. Sometimes it would be baseball games, sometimes Rush Limbaugh (I didn’t know wtf he was talking about, but I did like the bass line that opened his show), sometimes sports talk, and it would later become music stations hitting my hometown of Pleasant Hill from San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, and even Stockton and Modesto. I LOVED radio and couldn’t wait to give it a shot my first year out of high school… Long story short, I started getting paid for my services as a phone operator at KITS/Live 105 (alternative rock), made my way up to full time overnight DJ (back when those were still a thing), did that for a few years before cups of coffee in Sacramento, Portland, Phoenix, and then ultimately landing at WXRT in the summer of 2006.
As for what I enjoy doing outside of my time on the air at XRT, I’d have to say walking my baby boy and dog all around my neighborhood (Old Irving Park), riding a bike on the streets of Chicago, spending a little time at my old local, the G-Man Tavern, snowboarding (when time and money allow), hiking mountainous regions out west (when time and money allow), running, lifting, watching sports, seeking out new records to play on our Monday night new music program (The Big Beat), golf (when time and money allow)…and a whole bunch of other stuff.
You can listen to my radio program Monday through Friday 4pm-8pm, and you can hear me get a little adventurous on Monday nights as host of the aforementioned Big Beat, 10pm-midnight.
