  1. garjen says:

Daltrey should be way higher than 61!

  2. Jim W says:

What about Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty? (weird coincidence their bands have numbers in the titles BUT…)

Most of the rest I agree with. Glad Freddie Mercury, John Lennon & Elvis were mentioned in there.

  3. Matt says:

While not played on XRT, James Maynard Keenan of Tool should be somewhere on this list. One of the best voices in rock ‘n roll.

  4. dlr says:

How could you not include Diana Ross and the Supremes….????

  5. Dave O says:

Freddie Mercury should have been first I think… and Bowie, John Lennon and Paul Mcartney should have been higher 🙂

  6. Ken says:

Sorry, as a “singer” McCartney swallows Lennon whole (maybet not as a “rocker”–a different issue).

  7. James says:

Joe Cocker? Really? Mr. Spazz? Me no thinky so.

    1. Jim says:

Have you ever actually listened to Joe Cocker? I’d have put him much higher on the list.

      And where’s Leon Russell?

  8. James says:

    Elvis should be number 1

    1. harry says:

No one else even came close to Elvis. At least Bob Dylan’s not listed in the top 10. Rolling Stone sucks!

  9. Tony says:

What a ridiculous list! Greatest SINGERS of ALL TIME?!? Where are the opera singers? Really?!? You’re going to list the top singers of all time and not mention Pavorati, Caruso, Bocelli and many many more! Heck, you’d probably have to list the top 100 opera singers before you got to any pop/country/rock singers! And no Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin or Mel Torme?!? Who the heck came up with this? The list should be called the best pop singers of the ’60’s, ’70’s & ’80’s!

    1. Dave O says:

Hey Numb Nuts, It says at the top this list was according to Rolling Stone, so I guess this list came from Rolling Stone.

    2. Jim says:

WHAT??????? WHere was Chris Cornell?? He is most definitely up there with Robert Plant
A much better singer than Curt Cobain. I mean yeah we know, Nirvana, but Cobain had nowhere near the vocal range, soulfulness and stylings of Mr. Cornell. I agree with a lot on the list but I could throw in a much better mix myself.

  10. Richard Faircloth says:

Where was Michael Stipe ? Stevie Nicks should have been higher on the count than 98.

  11. Nancy Hirsch says:

What about Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole? Freddie Mercury should be in the top ten too.

  12. Roger says:

    Where is Michael Jackson???

  13. scott says:

No Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, or Raul Malo? Really? Perhaps I just missed Lyle Lovett name in the list.

  14. Luther says:

Hello Amy Winehouse? Dean Martin? Tony Bennett? Alicia Keys? PJ Harvey? Beyonce? Steve Earle? Sharon Jones?Adele? Paul Simone? Elliot Smith? Erykah Badu? Regina Septor???????….obiviously some didnt do their research.

    1. KBones says:

      Dude Amy Winehouse sucked.

  15. Laurel Casey says:

Don Henley and no Eddie Vedder or Michael Stipe – come

  16. Justin Tyme says:

Benny Mardonnis, look him up and may memories prevail!!!!

  17. Justin Tyme says:

excuse me , benny mardones…”Into the night”

  18. Mike Ryba says:

    100 Greatest Guitarist
Definitely a hugh oversight (and a insult in my book) is the absence Bonnie Raitt, considered by many to be one of the best slide guitarist! That from a quick look.
    Mike R.

  19. R.W. Atcher says:

If Bjork and Mariah Carey are on this list, then Minnie Ripperton belongs on it.

  20. Alaine says:

    Where’s K.D. Lang?

  21. Maureen says:

    What? No Chris Isaak?

  22. hitthenote says:

Dylan? Sure, one of the greatest songwriters…but a singer? My garbage disposal sounds better most days.

  23. Pan_Head says:

I think Rolling Stone Magazine must have something against Chicago. Peter Cetera has one of the best voices EVER! And the Gibbs? Where are they?

    1. Rob Atcher says:

      Definitely Cetera

  24. Marilyn C says:

Elvis Presley should most definitely be #1!!!

  25. Rob Atcher says:

Minnie Ripperton (Mariah Carey stole most of her chops)?

Linda Ronstadt – how could they NOT have her on this list?

Haggard and Jones are better singers than Cash, though not as influential

Bobbie Hatfield alone – or the Righteous Bros not on here?

    Neil Diamond?

    Gordon Lightfoot?

No way Neil Young should be that high

    Chrissie Hynde?

k.d. lang – Tony Bennett said she is the best he has ever worked with?

I could go on and on ….

They seem to have confused entertainers and influential songwriters with singers – Dylan in the top ten of SINGERS???

  26. Mariah Carey and no Celine Dion…. wtf

  27. Confeos says:

    Bruce Dickinson? MJK? Ian GIllan?
