In the last year White Mystery, the red headed sister brother team of Miss Alex White and Francis Scott Key White, have been ubiquitous on the Chicago music scene bashing out their explosive brand of low-fi garage rock. Now they can list XRT to their ever expanding resume. Last night they were guest DJ’s on The Eclectic Company along with host Jon Langford. Here’s the show’s playlist, all played off vinyl!
Many of us have a strange fascination with holiday music that veers off the sleigh trail. Weird, inappropriate, or horrifying Christmas songs have their place in the Christmas music pantheon. This is one of the reasons we look forward to our annual Eclectic Company Christmas Show with guest curators Andy Cirzan and John Soss.More Holiday Music

“
You get an idea of what's coming the instant you hear this armageddon dance crazed opener.
”
Given this lineage of top drawer artists, Candy Golde could be described as the best and baddest of musical collaborations Chicago has to offer. The lineup boasts Cheap Trick‘s Bun E. Carlos on the skins, Nicholas Tremulis (Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra, host of XRT’s The Eclectic Company), John Stiratt (a founding member of Wilco) and Rick Rizzo (Eleventh Dream Day). Together they deliver a seamless fusion of the best of what they bring to their bands.
Nick was kind enough to share the lead-off track from this great new 5-song EP. Download the FREE MP3, see Bun E. Carlos and Nick Tremulis this Saturday for Record Store Day and check out the Candy Golde album release party!Download The FREE MP3

Illinois lawmakers pulled an all-nighter in Springfield, voting to end the death penalty and to raise income taxes. Now the question is, which bills will Governor Pat Quinn sign into law?

Many of us have a strange fascination with holiday music that veers off the sleigh trail. Weird, inappropriate, or horrifying Christmas songs have their place in the Christmas music pantheon. This is one of the reasons we look forward to our annual Eclectic Company Christmas Show with guest curators Andy Cirzan and John Soss. Their research into Christmas oddities is exhaustive but not exhausting. Every year they introduce me to a variety of obscure 45′s I should never have found. So tune in tomorrow night at 10pm. In the meantime, I can promise you that I will play the worst Christmas song ever recorded this Thursday at 8:40am. Nothing else comes close. The other in my top five.Read More From Lin Brehmer
