Earlier this week I played (and thoroughly enjoyed) Robert Palmer's "Sailin' Shoes Medley," which got me thinking, where did all the medleys go? A medley, or suite, is usually 3 or more songs that flow through one glorious piece of music. They tend to be upwards of 8 minutes long, and I often have the luxury of playing them in the wee hours overnight on XRT. I've picked a few of my favorites below, although some of these bands have released more medleys than I know what to do with. Enjoy!

"Sailin' Shoes" - Robert Palmer

The aforementioned.

"Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen" - Santana

"Golden Slumbers Medley" - Beatles

This gem encompasses "Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End / Polythene Pam / She Came In Through the Bathroom Window"

"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Suite > Sweet

"Devil with a Blue Dress On" / "Good Golly Miss Molly" - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

Because he's the boss.

"Heartbreaker / Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)" - Led Zeppelin

Tune in to XRT Tuesday during the 10 am hour, Wednesday during the 11 am hour and all week long to win tickets to Robert Plant at the Jay Priztker Pavilion June 17th!

“I’ve Seen All Good People” - Yes

“Terrapin Station Suite” - Grateful Dead

Gotta keep the hippies happy.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I–V)" - Pink Floyd

"Beach Boys Medley" - Beach Boys

Included the following songs in order: Good Vibrations / Help Me, Rhonda / I Get Around / Shut Down / Surfin' Safari / Barbara Ann / Surfin' U.S.A. / Fun, Fun, Fun

"Medley: The Loner/Cinnamon Girl/Down by the River" - Neil Young

"Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen
